Cumberland Street Bridge Reconstruction
Purpose
To deconstruct an 80-year-old service bridge that serviced an industrial area and reconstruct for pedestrian and light service vehicles. The new bridge will become part Metro Vancouver’s and New Westminster’s continuing development of the Sapperton Landing Park.
Components
Remove existing asphalt, pressure treated timber decking and beams. Remove existing main span steel beams sandblast and re paint. Retain and repair existing wood piling, reinstalling steel and timber beams. Install new concrete supported by Q-decking over entire bridge span. Introduce new pressure treated wood pedestrian and bicycle railings.
